01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the charming village of Carro, Antichi Sapori is an authentic Italian restaurant that delivers a true taste of Ligurian culinary tradition with warm hospitality at its heart. This rustic gem, located on Via Guglielmo Marconi, invites both locals and travelers to indulge in a menu that masterfully celebrates regional flavors, crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The kitchen here excels in seafood, offering delights such as the "fritti gambereti totale" — a mixed fried seafood platter that comes highly recommended by delighted diners. Picture golden, crisp prawns and perfectly fried calamari that engage your palate with every bite; these are the kinds of dishes that linger fondly in your memory. Another standout is the hearty lasagne, praised for its comforting, rich layers that satisfy after a day’s adventure cycling up to Passo del Bracco.

Beyond seafood, Antichi Sapori showcases traditional Ligurian specialties like ravioli with ragù or mushrooms, bursting with earthy flavors and homemade charm. For those with a sweet tooth, the Crema Catalana provides a sublime ending—a creamy, delicate custard with a caramelized top that feels both luxurious and homey.

The dining atmosphere mirrors the restaurant’s setting: tranquil, cozy, and inviting. It’s a place where you can unwind from the bustle of modern life, as one guest affectionately puts it, “our village go-to,” where vibrant energy meets family-run warmth. The friendly and professional staff, particularly the attentive team behind the bar, treat guests like cherished friends, creating an experience that is as much about heartfelt hospitality as it is about exquisite food.

While the menu offers many delights, some advise steering clear of the kebab pizza, suggesting the kitchen shines brightest with its authentic Italian offerings. Prices here are refreshingly reasonable for the quality served – a full meal with drinks often runs about 15 euros, making Antichi Sapori an excellent value for travelers seeking superb cuisine without stretching the budget.

Whether you find yourself cycling through the Italian countryside or simply looking to savor genuine Ligurian flavors in a serene setting, Antichi Sapori promises a memorable meal that reconnects you with Italy’s culinary soul. From the crunch of expertly fried seafood to the silky smoothness of classic sweets, every bite tells a story of tradition, passion, and homegrown excellence.
